Matrix Direct Life is a big call center who got bought out in 2007 by AIG and are currently rebranding to AIG Direct. The following are some key points;

1. Matrix Direct Life was founded in 1995 with the goal of providing simple and straightforward Term Life insurance protection.
2. According to the Better Business Bureau, Matrix Life is rated an A+ which means that they provide very good customer service.
3. All nine companies that they represent are top rated or ‘A’ companies.
4. While many will view having a high volume of clients come to Matrix Direct is a good thing, some can view it as hard to maintain a personal relationship with your agent because of how much volume they provide help through a stone cold script which they recite to everyone the same way.

7. Although Matrix Direct offers traditional life insurance policies, their focus is on accidental life insurance which does not cover you for illness.

About Matrix Direct Life

Matrix Direct Life was founded in 1995 with the goal of providing simple and straightforward Term Life insurance protection. They are currently owned by AIG and AIG is a subsidiary of American General Life Insurance Company.Matrix Direct is a commercial life insurance company and works out of a giant call center. Kind of like ours, they work with insurance companies and provide their clients with coverage.

Since Matrix Direct isn’t an insurance company they cannot receive a rating from A.M Better, but their four top insurance companies rate pretty high. All of the companies that they represent are top rated or ‘A’ companies. These ratings mean that these companies according to A.M Better are financially stable and established. According to the Better Business Bureau, Matrix Life is rated an A+ which means that they provide very good customer service.

High Volume Life Insurance Call Center

While many will view having a high volume of clients come to Matrix Direct is a good thing, some can view it as hard to maintain a personal relationship with your agent because of how much volume they provide help through a stone cold script which they recite to everyone the same way. I mean no one really wants their life insurance agent to be their best friend, that’s not why people buy life insurance! What I mean when I say a personal relationship is that let’s say you just bought a life insurance policy with Mark but realized you have a quick question about what you just bought. You will be transferred to customer service and may have to explain the whole reason for your calling as well as your information for them to look you up. This can make some people not want to work with a big call center like Matrix Direct, but then some may want to, we are not here to judge just here to state some things you may want to know as a consumer.

We differ from Matrix Direct when it comes to personal touches. Here at InsureChance we only hire life insurance agents who have personality and love for life insurance. We have all experienced how aggravating it can be dealing with big box companies, like our cell phone providers or cable providers, because they just transfer you out to someone else where you have to re-explain everything again. Not here, we provide quality service where you know our agent’s first name, email, and number if you ever have any questions. You never have to be transferred out to a customer service representative who doesn’t understand after you explained everything and transfer you again.

About AIG

AIG has been in business for over 160 years. They have over 12 million customers that they have served and are rated ‘A’ and above by Standard & Poor’s, Moody’s Investors, A.M Best, and Fitch.(learn more about AIG) AIG attracts more clients because of their niche underwriting. They beat competitors by providing one of the lowest rates for high risked clients. So if you suffer from Gestational Diabetes, Anxiety, or Multiple Sclerosis then AIG will try and offer the best possible rate. A lot of companies rate you up for these different health conditions but not AIG, they offer one of the best rates for those who control their health condition as much as they can. AIG even offers Ex-felons coverage! All of their products come with a return of premium option, which pays the insured who completed their full term without canceling all their premiums that they have paid.

Pros about Matrix Direct

Matrix Direct has some good upsides, they have helped over six million people get insured. In 2007 AIG purchased Matrix Direct and this is a good thing for the company because they are trying to re-brand and promote AIGDirect over Matrix Direct, not only that but they have different ambitions in mind for the company which can be very good for this company. Another upside is that they offer their services with absolutely no fee (just like us).

Nine of the top rated companies

As we said before, Matrix Direct offers nine top rated companies! This is a good thing for consumers because nobody wants to get coverage from a bad rated company. They represent Mutual of Omaha, Legal & General, Voya Financial, Transamerica, Prudential, Globe Life & Accident, Fidelity Life, and American General. All of these companies are rated ‘A’ or higher, which is important when shopping around for life insurance because you want to make sure your money is in the right hands.

Cons about Matrix Direct

Just like there are a couple upsides, there are a couple downsides. For starters, we would like to emphasize the fact that Matrix Direct has ONLY nine companies under them…Another downfall is the fact that they don’t offer any policies with a “no medical exam” term and whole life insurance. No medical exam policies are perfect for those who suffer from health conditions or just simply don’t want to undergo a medical exam. A no medical exam policy is also beneficial for those who are trying to obtain life insurance quick because this process really speeds up the 30-day process to about an hour! It is almost odd that here at InsureChance offers the same nine top rated companies but also provide no medical exam policies.

Although Matrix Direct offers traditional life insurance policies, their focus is on accidental life insurance which does not cover you for illness. There are complaints made by clients who have been issued accidental life insurance instead of a traditional life insurance policy which is not nice at all.

Nine companies too little…

Matrix Direct has nine companies under them who never the less are top rated companies. Matrix Direct picked the best of life insurance companies but sometimes that doesn’t cut it. If you are shopping for life insurance it is a good idea to compare quotes if there are only four companies to compare quotes from are they really serving everyone’s’ specific health and lifestyles? We won’t answer that but what we can say is if there is a chance to compare a couple different quotes from different provider do it! Your first quote may seem like the best quote but you could probably get a better quote being patient and looking at other companies. Patience is the companion of wisdom.

Shopping for life insurance? here are some things you should consider looking at!

1. Company ratings & reviews: It is important as a consumer to gather as much information as you can in order to come up with the best decision.

2. Compare the different kinds of insurance policies so you can come up with what kind of insurance policy best fits you and your family.

3. Learn about the different policy riders that the company offers for policies.

4. Compare quotes until you can’t take it anymore because this will help when you’re looking for the best rate.

Why is it important to look at company rating and reviews?

Just like when you are looking for a new babysitter or nanny, you will look up their references because you don’t want to leave your baby with just anybody. Looking at a company’s rating and reviews will help you get a better understanding about who you are getting coverage from. A company rating is a good way to know if the company is financially stable and reliable. This is important in the life insurance business because if a company has a bad rating chances are high that they are not financially stable and will not know how to handle your money, meaning that if disaster happens (because disasters are inevitable) that company with a bad rating will not understand how to fix their business after the disaster and may choose to pull out which can be bad for the consumer because this means that all the premiums they have paid are gone like the wind. When a disaster happens you want to make sure that you and your family are covered by the right company because you and your family deserve it so take the couple minutes and look at company ratings.

Reading company reviews is beneficial for any consumer because GOOD reviews show the company’s rating, unbiased information, and product line. Reading a review can cut your time in half because for the one you learn a lot and for two it can help you know what you need to know to make the most educated decision.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, Matrix Direct is a big call center who is currently owned by AIG and is in the process of re-branding the company to AIG Direct. This company never the less has an excellent business rating which tells us that their customer service is spot on! However, what they lack is personable agents and only nine companies that they represent. They also don’t offer any no medical exam policies which is a big downfall for consumers who need coverage fast!.
